‘Twas the night before Christmas

…and all through the house, we were working like mad to get ready to leave at the crack of dawn. It’s really lovely to have self-sufficient cats, who can manage to care for themselves over a period of 3-4 days.

However, each year they display a disturbing degree of interest in the tree. The first year we had them, they took it down, breaking a slew of ornaments. For a while, we were trussing it to the wall via a hidden screw and some fishing wire. This year it’s just crammed into a corner between the wall and the bookcase, which offers them the opportunity to hang out closer to its top than they’re used to.

We’ll be back in town on Sunday, and I’m half expecting to find the whole thing toppled in the middle of the living room.
